Tiny Treasures Early Childhood Program

Tiny Treasures Early Childhood Program, a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church, offers our early childhood program for children from 18 months old to kindergarten. Led by experienced, expert educators, we provide children with a variety of learning experiences in a safe and secure environment with a low student-to-teacher ratio. Children attend music, Action Based Learning Lab, Gross Motor Lab, and daily chapel time. Our entire program follows thematic learning for both classroom themes and Bible stories along with curriculum from Handwriting Without Tears and Faith Alive. Our private kindergarten will follow both state and local learning standards while keeping our student-to-teacher ratio low to help promote strong academic growth in a Christian environment.  Our mission at Tiny Treasures is to nurture and facilitate the development of the whole child through appropriate cognitive, social, physical, and spiritual experiences.

Classroom Environments

Each classroom is divided into learning centers or interest areas. The teachers set up the areas and children are free to explore each center. These centers provide self-directed learning opportunities where each child can explore their own special interests at their own pace. Each home classroom has two teachers in order to keep a low student-to-teacher ratio where children can learn and explore in a nurturing, stimulating environment.

Goals

For the Child

  • To provide opportunities for being with other children in a Christian setting, conducive to the developmental needs of the child.

  • To provide learning experiences and activities that help each child attain a healthy self-concept.

  • To provide each child with a setting and program that maximizes growth potential in the intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual areas.

For the Parents

  • To provide parents with the security of knowing that their child is in a happy, healthy, nurturing environment.

  • To provide parents opportunities to improve skills that promote the growth and development of their children.

Language Environment

At Tiny Treasures Early Childhood Program, we believe that language is how children communicate, which is essential for learning. It is the foundation for listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Your child will be immersed in a print-rich classroom that includes such things as flannel boards, labels, dictated stories, signs, tape stories, puppets, a calendar, and a book area. Through these developmentally appropriate experiences, your child will be aware of the meaningful use of language and develop a long predictable sequence for speaking, reading, and writing.

We will involve the children in many interactions which include circle time, story time, and learning centers enhancing the child’s emotional security and self-confidence. This will enable each child to build upon his/her natural tendency and an appreciation for the written and spoken language.

Learning Objectives

Basic objectives have been developed to promote the development of each child. The objectives are based on what is developmentally appropriate for the children. Using the objectives as a framework, the teachers develop the curriculum taking into consideration the needs of each child. Each teacher is responsible for writing and implementing lesson plans to guide their daily activities. These plans include a balance of quiet and active activities, child-initiated and teacher-directed activities, and variety of learning areas. Weekly lesson plans are posted in each classroom.

Our Learning Philosophy

The early childhood years are exciting and powerful years for building a foundation for your child. At Tiny Treasures Early Childhood Program, we minister to the whole child: socially, emotionally, creatively, spiritually, mentally, and physically. We provide effective learning experiences in Spiritual/Social Living, Communication Arts, Expressive Arts, Wellness and Discovery about the World. The experiences are fun and interesting for the children in a positive Christian climate. Our program is set up for age appropriateness. Certain predictable sequences of growth and changes take place in a child’s life. We recognize these stages and have prepared the learning environment accordingly.

We also believe in individual appropriateness for God's precious treasures. Each child is a unique creation of God and with this in mind, the curriculum and interaction of adults must be responsive to individual differences. The knowledge of how children learn is important to any program. Children’s play is a vehicle for learning. Play enables children to progress along the developmental sequence. The child’s sensory experiences and self-initiated activities are an important part of their development. Hope offers a distinctly Christian program. Daily we share Christ with the children, care for them as one of God’s children, and prepare them to live in God’s world. Even the youngest children have a natural appetite for learning and children do learn Christian values and moral standards at a very early age. Tiny Treasures Early Childhood Program offers excellence in education within a warm, loving, Christian environment.

At Tiny Treasures, our children fall in love with learning in a Christ-centered environment. Daily chapel time and playground time, Music and Movement class, The Action Based Learning Lab, The Gross Motor Lab, and hands-on learning are key components of our program.

Enrichment Classes

Tiny Treasures believes in meeting the needs of the whole child, including their spiritual, physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs. We have developed a program that helps to meet those needs with the variety of enrichment classes and opportunities that the children at Tiny Treasures attend.

Daily Chapel Time helps to meet the spiritual needs of our children. Chapel time includes wonderful music led by Pastor Ralph on the guitar. Children also enjoy Bible story lessons that use a variety of props and visual images to help the children understand the Biblical teachings.  Accompanied by their classroom teachers, children enjoy seeing all of their friends during daily chapel time.  Children will also participate in worship music while engaging the auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learner with motions to the music that include visual cues and graphics. Children will learn how to show love to others, to thank God for their many blessings, and they will also learn how to be good listeners while learning about Christ.  Click here for a video of Chapel Time.

All children attend our Music and Movement Class which helps to nurture all the areas of child development and the skills necessary for readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. Music helps the body and the mind work together. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. Children will be engaged with hands-on musical instruments while moving to the beat and learning about rhythm.  They will also learn through movement, literature that incorporates music, nursery rhymes, and other popular children's songs.  The children love moving and grooving in our engaging music class. Tiny Treasures is one of the very few early childhood programs in all of Texas that offers a unique class, The Action Based Lab, for our three and four-year-old classes.  We've recently added our Gross Motor Lab for our 18 months and 2-year-old classes, too. With a whole child focus, Action Based Learning (ABL) supports brain research that links movement and learning to improved academic performance and behavior. Society's increasing use of technology often hinders the amount of daily movement and exploration and experts in education have noticed that children are not reaching important developmental milestones that are critical to both their physical and cognitive functioning.  Children engaged in ABL show improved memory retention, increased focus and attention, improved academic performance, and fewer behavioral issues.  Since implementing this unique program, we have seen drastic improvements in meeting the children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs. The children at Tiny Treasures LOVE this hands-on, action-packed class!  Click here for a video of Action Based Learning.

Tiny Treasures believes that many of the developmental tasks that children must achieve—exploring, risk-taking, fine and gross motor development, and the acquisition of basic knowledge—can be effectively learned through outdoor play. Children at Tiny Treasures attend daily Playground Time with our expansive playground that incorporates play structures specifically geared for young children. Additionally, the playground is separated into a large play structure especially meant for toddlers and another large play structure for preschoolers. Knowing our Texas heat, Tiny Treasures installed an expansive shade structure to keep our children shaded. Huge smiles, laughter, and exciting play can be found daily during playground time. Parental Involvement

At Tiny Treasures, we firmly believe in a strong partnership between parents and educators. We recognize that parents play a crucial role in shaping their child's spiritual, academic, and social development. By working together, we can ensure that students not only excel but also grow into well-rounded individuals who love and understand the world around them.

Research consistently shows that parental involvement positively impacts student achievement. When parents engage in their child’s education, children tend to perform better academically, exhibit improved behavior, and develop stronger social skills. This partnership is essential in fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment both at home and in school.

Our school offers many opportunities for parents to be involved. Superhero Day, Community Helper Chapel, Our Transportation Expo, Rodeo Days, and six special celebration days, are just some of the countless ways for our parents to participate.  We also invite all families to join us for our special Christmas program in which all of our children have an opportunity to participate. This wonderful tradition brings together our school community in the spirit of the season.  In the springtime, we love to welcome all our volunteers to a very special Volunteer Chapel where we celebrate our amazing volunteers. At the end of the year, we invite parents to join us for several programs including our Closing Chapel and our special graduation ceremony for our Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten students. These opportunities allow parents to be involved in their child's schooling and actively participate in their educational journey. Together, we create a nurturing and collaborative community where each child has an opportunity for academic excellence in a loving environment
